Despite extensive and costly diversity initiatives, little progress has been made in recent years in ending workplace gender inequality. Instead of continuing in this tradition, our PATH program starts with the clear and simple truth: That workplace gender inequality is a systemic problem caused largely by the (unintended) discriminatory operation of personnel systems, policies, and practices.
With that understanding in place, PATH presents the four-prong solution for directly attacking the structural discrimination that leads to gender inequality in the workplace:

Organizations’ DEI efforts are primarily focused on “debiasing” individuals. But between ingrained behaviors and unconscious biases, it is difficult — if not impossible — to “teach” people not to allow their predispositions to affect their decisions and behavior. Instead, it’s the (often unintended) discriminatory policies, procedures, and accepted practices of the organization that hold the key to an equitable workplace.
